Should You Should Consider A Plant Based Diet?

A friend of mine asked me the other day how in the world I could possibly go plant based, seeing that I was born and raised in the South and practically grew up on pork barbecue!
Good question. I had several reasons to go plant based, most of them based on health concerns. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to get anyone to turn into a vegan, but I do want you to understand the advantages of adding more plant based meals to your diet.
A couple of years ago, I started practicing daily intermittent fasting and lost 35 pounds. Along with the weight, I found that my desire for meat and then dairy products sort of fell away as well.
I never planned it that way, but that’s what happened. So I embraced a nearly 100% plant based diet. And actually the science is very clear….eat less meat and dairy and you have less chances of developing heart disease, cancer and a host of other illnesses.
It’s also better for the environment and I know I don’t have to tell you what goes on in slaughterhouses. Enough said!
